10 Affordable Ways to Promote your Business

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

We all need ways to promote our businesses, and most of us would prefer not to spend a fortune in the process. There are so many methods, both online and offline, but I have decided to list ten of my favorites in this article.

Some of these methods are free, and the others cost very little. Why should anyone spend a great deal of money promoting a business when it is just not necessary? Some would argue that the more money you spend, the better results you will see. I just don’t agree. Anything that gets your business name out there is valuable, no matter what it costs.

Look at the following free and affordable methods that many people use:

1. Email signatures (free)

2. Flyers (inexpensive)

3. Magnetic car signs (nominal cost)

4. Business cards (inexpensive)

5. Article writing (free)

6. Forums (free)

7. Classified ads (both free and nominal cost)

8. Websites (nominal cost)

9. Brochures (inexpensive)

10. Bumper stickers (inexpensive)

Let’s look at these individually. Each time you send an email, which is then forwarded to each recipient’s address list, and so on; consider how many sets of eyes are seeing your email signature, which includes your website address or business information.

When you leave flyers on public bulletin boards or restroom stall doors, imagine how many people are looking at your business information.

In the course of your daily activities, numerous people see your car sign advertising your business.

If you leave your business card at every business that you enter, send them out with each bill you pay, and leave one with every tip for every meal, you could be advertising to dozens of people each day.

When you submit a well-written, informative article to the article directories, your article may be picked up and re-printed by someone else on their website, with your resource box information attached, which of course lists your website address.

Participating in forums and providing valuable input makes you appear very knowledgeable and lends credibility to you and your business.

Classified ads, both online and offline, are seen daily by tons of people.

Some say that a business website is not necessary, but it is the best way to market yourself, and not your opportunity, first.

Business brochures left in each business that you enter, especially those with waiting rooms, is a great way to advertise. After all, what else do people in waiting rooms have to do?

Placing a business bumper sticker on your vehicle ensures that everyone behind you in traffic sees the ad for your business.

All of these methods used together give your business a lot of exposure. Of course, you may not be comfortable using all of them. You could select just a few of the ten listed here and still be promoting your business effectively.

About half of the promotion methods that I mention in this article are online, the other half are offline methods. Whether you prefer to use only online methods, or to advertise only in the offline world, there are plenty of free and low-cost ways to do it. If you use your imagination, I am sure you could come up with some great ideas of your own.

The bottom line is you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get the word out. Each of these free and inexpensive methods works just as well, in my humble opinion. If you are looking for ways to let others know about you, I recommend that you try some of these ideas before spending your hard-earned money on expensive advertising.

Short Funny Love Poems

Kevin Mathews asked:

Some person has made writing of poems as one of their hobby. Writing of poems is not a difficult task but only the thing matter is the work should be done with patience and care. It is also of equal importance that you should be able to express or share your words in a proper way out. Basically it is flow of literature free from anti-social and other elements.

There are different kinds of poems like love poems, graduation poems, naughty poems, couplet poems and many others to mention. Opting to write on these poems you may find it easy but not if you have to write on funny poems. As compare with others it is a difficult task that requires much of hard work with stupid sense of humor to deal with it. Below mentioned is some guideline to help you to quote about funny poems about love.

First of all, you should refer some poetry books of good authors that will prove to be a great helping hand in writing poems. Just practice out reading and listening properly of some well-known poets in the same genre. The idea which you get from practicing shows the style of writing and does it sound rhyming to others or not. One thing you should keep in mind while writing funny poems about love that it should contain some message or the content of poem should not be without any meaning. For a good quality poem all you have to is to gather some funny love poems and keep noticing some verse, stanza or lines that will lead you to the first step of writing poems.

The writing work should be fair enough showing the significance of funny thoughts, ideas, quotes or lines that you want to convey in the poem without revealing out ideas in a haphazard way. Try to make a note of all the specific things or ideas that all you want to integrate in your poem. Sometimes it is good to describe about some funny events or things if you can remember. Also expressing your emotion and heartily feelings will give a soft touch to the funny poems. Just don’t be afraid to write down your emotions and feelings to make it more special and significant. After your creative work gets over, and then just keep on editing your list as it is better and easier way out to write funny love poems.

Secondary is to adapt the perfect way of writing style which can give a clear imaginative picture in reader’s and listener’s mind. Stanzas should not give a vague picture in their mind. Funny poems are all about presenting out with good sense of humor and jokes. It is advisable not to use ambiguous words unnecessary which may be addled by others. So play your role with use of simple and jocular words without breaking compatibility between the lines or stanzas.

To make your work praiseworthy just do it sincerely along with some innovative ideas to get the positive result.

A DANISH STORY

The bright sunshine reflected the mood of the soldiers as they rode their motorcycles in a long military column, like serpentines, winding their way through the crowded city. Resplendent in their uniforms, some soldiers sat proudly on their motorcycles while others chose to rest in the open crew trucks as they slowly returned to their barracks.

They had just completed a highly successful military manoeuvre as part of their annual war games. It had been a great accomplishment and even their general, who gave no indication of his emotions, seemed satisfied with the outcome. He hardly spoke a word, but this was taken as a positive sign by his lieutenants and the non-commissioned officers.

The exhilaration of their successes was also acknowledged by the townsfolk, who had gathered on the footpaths, occasionally spilling onto the street, adding to the traffic congestion.

Everywhere people could be seen throwing flowers at the soldiers and personnel, cheering so loudly; they were even drowning out the military bands playing rousing songs from their specially festooned vehicles.

‘Hurray,’ they shout and ‘well done, boys!’ whilst constantly jostling each other to get closer to the convoy. And as far as you looked, there were cheering faces everywhere.

The seemingly endless column could only move slowly as trying to get back to the barracks, was proving to be quite tedious.

Per thought so too, as he drove his grey motorcycle with side car complete with passengers ‘All this stopping and starting is really strenuous’ he thought ‘it requires intensive concentration’ He seemed almost invisible to the crowd, sitting on his bike and all his bulky equipment, which would have fallen off long ago had it not been firmly secured with leather straps. And in front of him, reclining on some luggage that made a comfortable cushion, was Gina, an Italian girl who was luxuriously stretched out on the luggage, laughing and waving back at the cheering people.

‘Gina, you will have to get off from there and sit behind me in a proper seat! I can hardly steer and see the traffic ahead of me. And should we have to gather speed, you could fall off.’

A peeling laugh was Gina’s reply. ‘You worry too much, you are too serious. Enjoy the day – everybody else does!’ Where upon she

returned her attention to the onlookers, smiling and waving at them.

Intermingled with the soldiers, who were perched high on the trucks and armoured personnel carriers were civilians. They were mainly Italian girls, ‘helpers’ as they were affectionately called, who had come to Denmark to work under contract to the armed forces. As they were always cheerful and hard-working, they added to the prevailing camaraderie.

The Tudor-style houses on either side of the road were adorned with colourful flags and buntings which were stretched across the road and gave the appearance of a roof over the road. They were mainly red flags with white crosses, fluttering in the breeze, seemingly with excitement. And the occasional cloud tries to smile from the powder-blue sky.

Per sits proudly on his motorcycle, smiling happily and every now and then  wiping perspiration from his face. The convoy was approaching the city centre now only making slow progress due the traffic congestion. This made the driving for him increasingly difficult and required all his concentration. With all that stopping and starting, suddenly increasing speed and slowing down abruptly, there was a distinct danger of either running into the vehicle in front of him or being run down by the enormous truck behind him. Especially since his view of the traffic ahead was partly obstructed by Gina.

‘Gina, get into the seat behind me. Now! ’ He said to her and managed to say this in a firm, commanding voice; and she obeyed immediately. After all, he was responsible for the safety of his passengers and the transport.

The late afternoon sun was throwing long shadows, when the column finally arrives at the barracks. Soldiers and the civilian girls dismount cheerfully, rushing towards the canteen as they were in need of some light refreshments before storing away the equipment and vehicles in their proper places.

As they all hurried towards the canteen,  Per, hurried along too, becoming part of the long line of people on a narrow walkway. Pushing and shoving his way down the winding stairs and around a corner, he did not see the lieutenant standing there, out of sight and ready to pounce on any transgressor of military discipline. He had a reputation among the soldiers for being constantly angry.

Per was part of the mass of people now slowly shuffling down the stairs. In front of him, he noticed Gina and tapping her playfully on her shoulder, he smiled as he teased her with the only Italian word he knew:

‘Avanti, avanti!’.

The lieutenant, who was also Italian, overheard this, mistook this as a joke at his expense and stopped Per as everyone rushed past him.

The lieutenant’s face became an angry grimace as he gives Per a dressing down and made notes for a report with all the resulting consequences. Per tried to plead with him and attempts to explain that the remark was meant for Gina, but to no avail.

Standing there and desperate, he sees the General and a Colonel walking across the now empty square. Boldly stepping forward and addressing them  in a proper military manner, he explains his predicament.

The General listens intently and turns to the officer at his side: ‘Deal with this issue and let me know!’

The Colonel’s voice was not unfriendly: ‘Go into the canteen now and write your report on this incident. And have it on my desk by tomorrow morning, at the latest. I shall look into this matter!’’ She saluted him as a sign of dismissal.

The barrack square was now devoid of people, giving Per a feeling of loneliness. He makes his way back to the canteen, and as he enters a wave of cheerfulness engulfed him.

Per finds a seat at a table along the wall and pulls a sheet of writing paper from a rack, attached to the wall in front of him. It was at eye level, containing mostly magazines and some stationary. Thoughtfully, he places the sheet on the table and, taking his writing pen out of his pocket, he tries to gather his thoughts together for his report.

He quickly glanced around, taking-in the mass of people who are enjoying themselves. The vast whitewashed hall had light-brown oak beams and wooden chandeliers with many light bulbs which had individual lamp shades patterned with chequered red and white material. The oak tables, too, were covered with table cloths in the same red and white pattern, adding cheerfulness to the prevailing bonhomie.

.

‘How do I start, what’s the best way of beginning?’ he thought, staring at the empty white page. Suddenly he became aware of an Italian waitress bending over his shoulders; she placed a printed double page in front of him that seems to have been torn from the centre of one of the many magazines.

She seemed to know about his predicament.

‘Here! Read this – it’s all in here’, she said with compassion and was gone. Somewhat confused, Per looks at the pages in front of him; they   seemed to tell a story and he begins to read:

“The bright sunshine reflected the mood of the soldiers, as they rode their motorcycles in a long military column, like serpentines winding their way through the crowded city. Resplendent in their uniforms, some soldiers sat proudly on their motorcycles while others chose to rest in the open crew trucks as they slowly returned to their barracks.

They had just completed a highly successful military manoeuvre as part of their annual war games. It had been a great accomplishment and even their General, who gave no indication of his emotions, satisfied with the outcome. He hardly spoke a word, but this was taken as a positive sign by his lieutenants and the non-commissioned officers”.

He continues reading with utter amazement and discovers that the story is his story!

‘Who put this in front of me?’ he asks the soldier sitting next to him. But only a shrugging of a shoulder is his reply. Standing up, Per waves his double page and calls out: ‘Hey, has anybody seen who put this in front of me?’

Several, very elated, people reply: ‘It was a waitress!’ But nobody can remember which one as there are quite a number of them working busily, moving in and out of the room.

Returning to the intriguing story about himself, he reads on that he will get up, walk across the vast hall to the next room, where he will meet his future wife…….

On reading these details Per becomes very apprehensive and yet inquisitive. As if under a spell, he feels compelled to read this story right to the end.

It goes on to say that he crosses the floor, and walked towards the door to the next room to find a pretty blond girl there and says:

’I shall see you this evening!’

‘Yes, I shall see you this evening!’ she nods shyly.

And when he started to read about an enormous wedding which was being held, with all the soldiers and staff attending, the drive from the church through streets festooned with flags and buntings and about the cheers and well-wishes of the people crowding at the footpath, smiling and happy,

Per felt the enormity of the moment! Pale and shaking all over, he rose from his seat and walked stiffly towards the other door at the end of canteen.

Nobody took any notice of him as he crossed the hall, the noise of chatter and hilarity continued unabated, whilst he suddenly felt terribly lonely in what he thought was the most very important moment of his life.

Reaching the door, he looked through a small glass window into a waiting room: It had the same whitewashed walls, and a few wooden chairs were placed at the opposite end of the room.

At first, Per perceived the room as empty but he suddenly became aware of a girl sitting on one of the chairs, exactly as it was told in the story. A feeling of de ja vu came over him and he felt that he had known her all his life. Everything here was so familiar; she was young and fresh-faced and her long blond hair cascaded richly around her shoulders.

She wore a white sleeveless summer dress which accentuated her pink skin. Her feet were in narrow-strap sandals and her shapely hands were resting in her lap. Her gaze was lowered to the floor and she seems to be waiting for something predestined…….

As he opens the door and steps into the room, she glances up at him for a moment with a shy smile on her face. She seems to have expected him. Her face, he had always known; it was so familiar, so natural. She did not have the need to wear make-up as her skin is smooth and pale. Her lips are full and pale too and he senses that she, too, may be aware of this all-important moment in their lives.

He introduces himself and she quickly looks up at him with the bluest eyes he has ever seen and nods knowingly.

Per, feeing so in unison with her and still remembering the story he’d just read, this story about him, he is only able to stumble out the words from his dry mouth: ‘You are my future wife!’

Her eyes still cast down, she immediately nods and whispers: ‘I know!’ A slow blush appears on her cheeks giving them a shell pink look.

’ I shall see you this evening!’ he hears himself say, feeling stunned by this momentous event.

But she, too, knows all that and without looking up she nods with decisiveness ‘Yes Per, I shall see you this evening!’

Per finds himself back in the canteen with this strange feeling, a sense of surrender and finality. He realises that he forgot to ask her for her name, but finds this detail unimportant. He has found his future wife, he now has a purpose in life and that is all that matters!

Suddenly a determination to act overcame him and, having already read the story – his story- he knew what to do next! Striding purpose-fully past the tables with his care-free comrades, across the barrack square, he found himself suddenly standing outside the office of the woman lieutenant.

The two girls in the main office smiled when they saw him entering and seem to sense his urgency to meet the lieutenant. They pointed to one of the doors; “This way!’ Upon entering the lieutenant’s room, he was greeted warmly and offered a seat. This officer seems to have plenty of time as she listened patiently to his, somewhat garbled, report and smiled at his uttered intention to marry. Nodding reassuringly, she promised to arrange for the paperwork and other formalities and, wishing him well, she led this dazed soldier out the door.

‘Don’t worry about a thing,’ he heard her say, ‘I’ll arrange the necessary papers and then call you in for signing. It is that easy!’

This conversation reassured Per greatly. He stepped outside and suddenly finds the barrack’s square full of people, soldiers and civilians, cheering him and shouting their best wishes.

It’s as though everyone around him knew what was going on, except he!

Living in the Modern World: 20 Questions Without Answers

Facts, oddities, incidental details: these are only some of the few things I examine in the following twenty features I have come up with concerning life and all its intricacies. Some will make you laugh, others will make you scratch your chin, but whatever your behaviour, each and every one of these twenty or so queries.

1) Ever used 3-second glue (or instant glue and super glue as it is called in some countries)? Why does it stick so quickly as soon as you squeeze it out but it doesn’t stick to the sides of the tube from which you squeeze it out?

2) Sanity statistics has proven that one out of four people are insane or suffer from some form of mental disease. Think of three of your best friends. If they are fine, then you must be the fourth one.

3) If you have either a television or a Video Receiver or a DVD or anything that needs a remote controller, this odd behaviour is familiar. Have you noticed that whenever the batteries begin to get dull, we press down harder? Are we expecting to squeeze more out of them?

4) Watched old (and even newer descriptions in film) about Tarzan. If he is supposed to be living in the wild, what happened to his beard?

5) Switched those bulbs that are enclosed in tight plastic shutters? Have you noticed that whenever you go to do that there are always dead bugs inside? How did they manage to get there?

6) Still use plastic bags instead of the more nature-friendly paper ones? Ok. Then, pray tell, why can’t I ever manage to open one on my 1st attempt?

7) Why, pray tell, do doctors just about to inject a prisoner with a lethal injection check that the needle is sterilized?

8) Have you noticed that if your bank account gets overdrawn, your bank will add an extra charge? Why do they do that? Should you maybe inform them that the reason your checkings account is overdrawn is because you don’t have money?

9) Mother-in-laws are jokes about continuously, but why not father-in-laws?

10) If people run into a sign near a park bench saying that the paint is wet, every one will touch it to check. If this is so, why don’t these same folk verify the star count of around four billion stars so stated according to various scientists?

11) Why do we return to the refrigerator and gaze in when we know that there’s nothing interesting to eat inside?

12) Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest but ducks if after the bullets are over the gun is thrown at him?

13) I’m sure you’ve heard of the evolutionary claim that mankind has evolved from monkeys. Before I am to believe this, I want to know that if this is so why are monkeys still roaming earth?

14) Why is it that when we try to catch something that is falling off a table, our hand knocks down something else?

15) Heard of the Jap airplane pilots who towards the end of the Second World War crashed their planes into American naval ships? Why did these guys even think of wearing a helmet?

16) The next you vacuum your living room floor, explain what happens when you try to vacuum a tiny thread. The vacuum will not be able to suck it. Why then will you pick it up, examine it thoroughly and instead of placing it in the dustbin, throw it back down and try to vacuum it up again?

17) How come soap bubbles are always white no matter what the colour of the soap?

18) Is it winter or summer wherever you are right now? Have you noticed that if it is summer we try and make the house as cold as it would be during winter, and if it is winter, we try and make the house as hot as it would during summer?

19) Why is it that whenever you walk past a mattress dealership, they have large signs advertising a big price reduction?

20) Isn’t it silly that when if wandering through one of the large shopping malls someone doesn’t pay attention and the cart they are pushing smacks into your toes, and then they say sorry, all we can think of saying is that no harm was done while your toe is aching.

Before I End:

Above you have run into about twenty or so intriguing incidents on life that I or some friend of mine has come across. Most will be familiar to you. Some might not. But, I hope that each one of them will if not make you at least laugh, bring a wry smile to your face and to your heart.

Abracadabra A Great Birthday With A Magician!

Children’s birthday parties have become outrageous showcases of food, gifts, and entertainment that are costing parents more and more each year. Instead of focusing on the child, parents are striving more and more to “keep up with the Joneses” and put on fantastic displays that involve a great deal of time and money for the planning and execution of the party. Instead of worrying about booking venues packed with activities, consider throwing your child an old fashioned bash in your own backyard. For a special touch, consider hiring a magician to entertain both children and adults for the party. A magician is a great way to entertain the crowd while maintaining a unique aspect for your child’s party.

A magician is a classic way to entertain and enthrall the young and the young at heart when it comes to hosting a birthday party. If your child is interested in becoming the next Houdini, use magic as the theme for his or her party. If you are planning to hire a magician to provide entertainment for you child’s birthday party, you may need to plan ahead and book the magician’s services in advance to prevent any last minute cancellations or bookings.

If you have decided to include a magician in your child’s birthday party, call around. Ask friends, family members, or coworkers for a referral of a specific magician they have hired or seen perform in the past. Also, consider contacting your local chamber of commerce or business organization to see if there is someone offering their entertainment services for hire. You will find that word of mouth is incredibly powerful; as you can be sure the magician you hire to perform at a birthday party or any event will provide age appropriate entertainment.

Before your hire a magician or any entertainment provider, be sure to get the agreement in writing. Also, you may need to pay an initial deposit to ensure the date for the party. Some questions to ask the magician include if their material is appropriate for children, how long they plan to perform, if they are willing include the birthday child in their act, and what will happen in the unfortunate event they are unable to attend or perform.

Once you have booked your magician, be sure not to change the date and time of the party. Doing so may cost you additional money or cause you to lose the magician due to previous commitments. A magician may book several parties or events on a given day, so his or her schedule is tight and unable to be changed.

Hiring a magician is an excellent way to entertain everyone present at the party. Many magicians include kid friendly magic tricks and may even teach the children a couple of tricks of their own. If this is the case, be sure to purchase any potential items necessary for the event for the children ahead of time. Also, consider giving away magic tricks as game prizes or party favors so the theme is continued throughout the party. Your child is sure to enjoy the fun filled tricks, jokes, and illusions that a professional magician can provide.

Overweight Children

In the United States, at least one child in five is overweight and this number of overweight children continues to grow. In the last two decades, this number has increased by more than 50 percent, and the number of “extremely” overweight children has nearly doubled.

A doctor determines if children are overweight by measuring their height and weight. Although children have fewer weight-related health problems than adults, overweight children are at high risk of becoming overweight adolescents and adults.

Why are Children Overweight

Children become overweight for a variety of reasons. The most common causes are genetic factors, lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating patterns, or a combination of all three of them. There are some rare medical cases, such as an endocrine disorder, that may cause your child to become overweight. Your physician can perform a physical exam and some blood tests, to rule out any possible medical condition.

Herbalife Weight Loss

Just as adults who are overweight often feel hopeless and helpless, the same applies to kids. This can be especially hard in school, and children are often the brunt of a joke or called names to only bring their self-esteem down.

No one wants their child to have to grow up like this and Herbalife can help by providing a safe weight loss program for your child. Herbalife Kids Shakes provide essential nutrition including protein, fiber and 100% of key nutrients to meet growing kids’ daily needs. Because they taste great, kids will ask for one every day. Herbalife products can help your child on the right track of healthy eating habits, which they will rely on as they grow older.

Herbalife Kids Shakes provide 100% of key nutrients plus protein and fiber. There are no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. Herbs and botanicals, including soothing chamomile, ginger (which aids digestion), plus rosehips and acerola–two powerful antioxidants. These shakes are quick to make and convenient to take when you’re on the go.

Herbalife Features

Great-tasting shakes with 17 essential vitamins & minerals kids need every day, plus protein and fiber. Excellent source of calcium, B-complex vitamins and antioxidant Vitamins A, C & E. 15g of protein (6g from powder + 9g from milk/soy milk). Good source of fiber.

If you think that your child is overweight, it is important to talk with your child’s doctor to determine if indeed there is a weight problem. The physicians will measure your child’s weight and height to determine if your child’s weight is within a healthy range. Your child’s age and growth patterns to determine whether your child is overweight. Assessing overweight in children is difficult because children grow in unpredictable spurts.

If your doctor finds that your child is overweight, you may asked to make some changes in your family’s eating and activity habits. Adding Herbalife shakes to your child’s daily menu will help your child lose weight safely and without them even realizing they are taking a diet product.

There are certain games about roles games, jobs games, functions games, evaluation games, designing games, etc., For example: The literature on games fill the internet, the books, in newspapers, in journals and weekly magazines. Almost all games, begin with a problem to be solved, or imagined social or environmental situation. Or to wish roles to play in society. Or make a wish list for what to have of personal qualities, or wish list of what we should not have in life, mentally or physically. Or creative ideas in history, such as questions begin with: what if? For example: what if we were created deaf, or blind, or with three legs, or three meters high. Or we were created males, or females. What life would be in these cases. How people live, how the economy would be? How families would be? How societies would be? How traveling would be? How Much Would You Invest in a New Partner?

A 32-year-old single graphic designer from Brisbane recently offered $40,000 to anyone who could find her a life partner.

“I did it as a bit of a joke, but there is a serious side to it,” she explained.

“I’m getting older and, to be honest, I’d rather spend my Saturday mornings at open for inspections with a partner than getting over another Friday night with all the other singles from work.”

Her proposition seems to stack up financially too. Studies around the world show that marriage makes you richer, not to mention happier and healthier (and having a long term partner also means you’re more likely to live long enough to qualify for a birthday card from the Queen).

One study found that workers who are married earn between 10% and 20% more than singles. And they can split plenty of big ticket costs with their partner like a mortgage and the latest 33 inch plasma TV too.

It’s easy to sympathise with Sex and the City’s Carrie, who indignantly presented her smug married friend with a compensation claim for the thousands of dollars she’d spent on the engagement present, the wedding, the baby showers and all of her friend’s other major life events.

Forget for a moment that a long term partner can lead to long term financial commitments – like children, a bigger house and a massive car – and marriage seems to stack up.

If a financial planner came and offered you a return of hundreds of thousands of dollars – and a few bonus years on earth – in return for an investment of just $40,000, wouldn’t you be crazy not to sign up?

“It just seems a bit too crass and desperate to me,” said Toby, a self-confessed romantic (who nevertheless joined an introduction agency & online dating in a bid to find a new partner).

But is it really such a radical idea? After all, in many cultures there is nothing wrong with offering a dowry to your unmarried daughter’s prospective new family.

And women (and increasingly men) can spend thousands in just a few years of dating on the obligatory waxing and primping – not to mention hundreds of nights at pricey singles bars – in their quest to find a partner. And while online dating is cheaper in comparison to a night out in a trendy spot there’s no guarantees.

In an increasingly rushed world, why not just cut to the chase?

The 5 Most Common Makeup Mistakes (And How To Avoid Them)

Orange face, white neck. Brown neck, pink face.

We all know someone with no perception of how her make-up really looks on her own face.

She’s sweet, really sweet. But she’s a joke in your circle of friends. Oh, no. It isn’t you, is it?

Well, even if you don’t wear “clown makeup,” chances are you’re making some mistakes with your makeup. Take stock to be sure that you don’t fall into any of the makeup traps below.

Mismatched Foundation

Your foundation should not be a different color from the rest of your body. Really, it shouldn’t. This is an easy problem to fix. March yourself down to the make-up counter at your favorite department store and let the salesperson do her job. It’s her job, after all. Don’t be intimidated, you don’t need to buy the whole product line.

Blue Eye shadow

Blue eye shadow works for some people. Little girls in dance recitals. Guests at 1970s-themed parties. Ethereal looking supermodels. If you aren’t one of the aforementioned people then don’t wear it.

Enough said.

Dark Circles Under Eyes/Obvious Under Eye Concealer

This is a chicken or egg problem. You’re right, the circles aren’t great. But neither are orange crescents under your eyes. Play around with a few shades of concealer to see what really works best for you.

Different products work differently on different people. Just because one brand works for your friend, doesn’t mean it’ll be flattering on you. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep and talk to your doctor. Sometimes those circles are a sign of allergies or a vitamin deficiency.

Obvious Lip liner

This is a look. It’s just not a flattering one. Lip liner is intended to add dimension to thin or small lips, to lengthen the wear of your lip color and to prevent your lipstick from “bleeding” onto your face. It is not intended to create a visible outline.

Inferior products in your dressing area

Most of us are not starlets with dressing rooms and make-up artists at our disposal. But that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve to look like starlets with dressing rooms and make-up artists.

Invest in good lighting around your vanity. Stock it with quality make-up brushes and limit your make-up collection to products you’ll actually use. That way, your budget can be used to buy better cosmetics.

You’re worth it

Add a couple of extra minutes, a wee bit more effort and a little money into your daily makeup routine. It’s not vain to spend a few dollars on or a few minutes at your vanity. Put on your prettiest smile, bat your beautiful lashes and show the world that you like who you are.

Put your best face forward… you don’t have to hide behind crow’s feet and lip lines..
